John Franz & Son
Title
Description
Real Estate, Insurance, Etc.
Among those who have gained enviable reputations for the correct manner in which they conduct their business, must be named the above firm. Their business was founded by John Franz in 1877, who for 10 years prior has been our Register of Deeds. This gave him a valuable knowledge of land both in the city and country. In 1855 the business had reached such porportions that Mr Franz decided to admit his son, John Junior, to it. It was a wise move as he was very popular and also understood the business in all its phases and features. It is a strong firm and their field of operations is large. The clever management of it has given them an enormous business and the confidence of our city and country people. Everything known to a general real estate business is done, such as negotiating the purchase and sale of real estate, loans, collections, etc. They also represent the leading steamship lines such as the North German Lloyd, Hamburg-American Packet Line, Netherlands Steamship Line, Scandinavian Line, and Red Star Line; also the following insurance companies: Associated Underwriters. Continental Ins. Co. of the city of New York. Detroit Fire and Marine Ins. Co., of Detroit, MI. Fireman's Fund Ins. Co., of San Fransisco, CA, Fire Association Ins. Co., of Philadelphia, PA, German American Insurance Co., of New York. London Assurance Co., of London, England Manchester Fire Assurance Co., of England. North British & Mercantile Ins. Co., London, England. Pennsylvania Fire Ins. Co., of Philadelphia, PA. Philadelphia Underwriters Ins. Co., of Philadelphia, PA. Phenix ins. Co., of Brooklyn. St. Paul Fire & Marine Ins. Co., of St Paul, MN. Westchester Fire Ins. Co., of New York. Western Assurance Co., of Toronto, Canada. Western Underwriters Association. Both co-partners are wide awake and progressive men of the highest personal character, who stand high with their fellow men and the community in general, and their positions here are those of influence and prominence. The senior member is also stamp deputy collector for the 5th division, 1st district of Wisconsin
