Came to Manitowoc with Mr Hoes as railroad contractor 1855. Finished only one third grading by 1857 at eastern end of Manitowoc & Mississippi. After project given up stayed in Manitowoc and acted as justice of peace, deputy sheriff and finally appointed County Judge when Judge Pierpoint resigned in 1864. Elected to office and served till 01/1870. Died 04/07/1873. Married twice and built the elaborate home at Chicago and North 5th Streets overlooking the lake. Mrs Barker(2nd wife) former wife of W Good now Manitowoc merchant. Manitowoc 1855. Died 03/15/1914. First wife died 1866.
